My 4×4 has only 45kg roof rack loading capacity and I have 2 ROLA crossbars on it rated at 70kg.
I’m after a solution for creating a non-permanent extra storage on my car’s roof, which can only be mounted on when I go overlanding once/twice a month or so. I need it for storing tent & bulky items and preferably to be safe.
Can’t have something permanent as the car won’t fit under in my apartment’s parking’s maximum height.
I figured that because of my car’s very low roof rack loading capacity , I should skip having a flat roof ‘tray’ on top of my roof racks and hsve something that can easily be mounted directly onto my roof racks.
Is a roof pod a good solution? Can’t find anywhere how much they weight on average, because if they weight, let’s say 25kg, it would leave me with only 20kg carrying capacity. Also, is there a way to mount a roof pod safely with a quick type of mount?
I prefer the boxy type storage boxes that are slim and long and about 80L capacity.
Any ideas and suggestions would be appreciated, Cheees.
