Old Trails Road to Caliche Spring, Black Mesa, AZ : overlanding

Did 655 miles from Costa Mesa, CA to Old Trails Road (just past Area 66) a couple weeks ago on a tank and half of gas. You get off at Old Trails

One of these things is not like the other.
Potential impact to certain PLB’s (personal locator beacons) due to loss of Starlink satellites?
Is this too big to be an overlander?

Did 655 miles from Costa Mesa, CA to Old Trails Road (just past Area 66) a couple weeks ago on a tank and half of gas. You get off at Old Trails Road from I-40 going N., make a left, go to Speedway Road, and drive down into the wash.

I originally discovered this trail in 2016. In 2017, I returned only to realize when I got to Joshua Tree, that one of my mudflaps was presumably torn off on the trail. I went back 6 months later on the long way home from Vegas, and ended up finding the damn mudflap somewhere on this 2 mile stretch of igneous rock.

I like to come here once a year. This time it was significantly more green. There was a lot more horseshit in the spring, and I came across a few more carcassas on my climb up to the mesa.
