Here’s some the places we go, and rigs. Shameless self promotion day.

I bought an Ironman awning, which only comes with a desert tan cover featuring their big green mascot on one end. I wanted to fix those aesthetics and set out to do it myself.

If you just want to eliminate the big green Ironman, you can actually take it right off with acetone and a rag. Do make sure though to do this in the shade and immediately wash it to remove excess acetone, because I’ve seen a couple examples of people doing this in the sun and leaving it, and the tan turns a kind of orange tint.

To repaint, after prepping the surface you can use SEM Marine Vinyl Coat. This stuff is made for repainting boat seats, inflatables, etc and is designed to be UV resistant and flexible enough to be on a seat and not crack. Once you have it fully coated, use SEM Tac Free to seal and protect it. One can was more than enough for my 6.5ft awning.

I made a video of the detailed steps, but the clips are a little short since I didn’t originally plan to do a whole video. I am about to do another one and will make sure to get good footage to eventually do an updated how-to video. All the steps are there though as well as some other tips of what to do and what not to do. If you’re interested, it’s here: https://youtu.be/S_WdsIAdgKA

I originally did this in August 2021 and it’s now over a year later and still looks great. Lots of pinstriping but the scratches are still black and tan hasn’t made a reappearance yet. If you have any questions please let me know!
