On our way from Al Ula to Wadi Disah, we decided to camp at a Mushroom-shaped Rock. It’s about 100 kilometers west of Al Ula near Abu Rakah, Saudi Arabia. We wonder how the wind and rain managed to carve out this masterpiece. There is no one to be seen around, and we had this little natural wonder all to ourselves. There is also a natural arch formed on the nearby sandstone mountain. We hiked on the mountain to get the view of the beautiful surrounding desert and the wadi. When we came back from hike, we found that our FJ Cruiser’s battery was fully dead. Because we switched ON the ignition to check the morning temperature and forgot to switch it off! Thankfully we could start the FJ cruiser with Noco emergency jump starter.
While driving back, we came across outcrop of rock actually looking like a human face. We saw ancient petroglyphs of ibex, camel, snake, hunting scene, horse riders, palm print, cow, cattle.
It’s true, Saudi Arabia is an open museum of history, culture, artifacts.
