How many vehicles have you gone through before you found your “Goldilocks Overlanding Rig”? : overlanding

Spent the last few months designing and building my own platform camper similar to a GFC.

Did all but the machined shock mounts myself, those were the first machined parts I did and needed a walk through on the Haas.

8020 extrusion, machined some slots into each end to slide all the hardware in externally.

Machined hinges that bolt to the extrusion. Aluminum composite panels for the roof and floor.

Cordura 600D fabric.

1.5” .065” wall round tubes, all notched on a mill and tig welded together.

Side panels punched out on a punch press then bent on a brake, welded on piano hinges.

Lots of work, quite a few mistakes, but it was a great learning experience. Spent my teenage years and all of college working in a fab shop and have been taught a lot along the way.
